How I filmed Inside Van Gogh's Bedroom in Arles
When I was school, we had to study him and paint something in his style. It nearly put me off art for life. Thank goodness It didn't. I ended up matte painting on some big films. I'm sorry, but I absolutely hate Lowry's work. Don't like it at all. Dismal composition and depressing colours. Working class depiction of life at the time in the North. So what? Sorry, it's simply my opinion and I'm entitled to have it.
Just asking, is there any artist in the history of art that didn’t have a hard , poor, abusive life?’🙄🙄🙄
This channel is always worth checking out, there's a lot stuff here that's new to me, (particularly the sculpture and the sketches,) and on whole his pictures are much better than I remember them being. The connection with Brancusi now you've pointed it out is pretty much self evident.
Excellent!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank You !
You are welcome. Cheers
The Dragon.
?
Yes. I do very much lol.
Cheers
Thanks buddy. I had wondered why looking at Kandinskys felt similar to listening to music.
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers
Thank you. At seventy something I find it rejuvenating.
That's brilliant. Cheers
That was great synopsis with plenty of pictures and pictures of his paintings brilliantly presented thank you.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
What a load of garbage... just shows how much better children are. And I will be the one here who people think is the one who's devoid of understanding real art. I'd rather have my grand children's art on my wall....
You are fully entitled to your opinion, although it's not one i share. There's a good reason why Klee's work adawns the walls of some of the world's great art galleries and your grand children's artwork takes pride of place just on your walls.
Thank you. I like the clear way you explain things. It's enjoyable and smooth on the ear.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this video. I enjoy everything about art and artists though I am not a painter.
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers
Thank you so much for sharing this very informative video. I just subscribed to your channel.
Awesome! Thank you!
You are so amazing explaining all this with such passion!
Thank you! 😊
There's a great book "Concerning the spiritual in art " by Kandinsky. A must have

When I was at high school, circa 1971 I spotted a cheap print of Paul Klees' 'Senicio',hanging in a corridor above a radiator. It beauty captivated me. I asked a senior member of staff if I could take this warped, worthless print home. My request was refused,so I stole it and craftily took it home with me. That was where my love affair with Klees style began, and to this day,he is still my favourite artist .
He is a wonderful artist. Cheers
yeah tbh its just rubbish lol
In your opinion, not necessarily on many others.
It appears weimar republic was a fairly liberal time?..
Yes, it was a very liberal time, but then the right wing fascists took over in 1933 and the rest is history.
Psycho babble rubbish !!!
Really!!
Again I have watched another one of your videos, and have found another new artist to me. Thank you!
You are very welcome. Cheers
Wonderful video on Paul Klee, much more in-depth about development of his style done in a very fun way
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers
I have read some of the comments here and I, too, have never heard of this artist. Thank you for sharing this information. I found it fascinating.
You're very welcome. Cheers
What a wonderful video you made! Thank you so much. I love Paul Klee so much that I feel I am a part of him.
Glad you enjoyed it! He was a remarkable artist. Cheers
Thanks it was great. From Richmond VA USA.
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers from Somerset, England
I never saw a Paul Klee piece I didn't like. Hard, if not impossible to think of another great artist that I could make the same claim. Maybe David Smith...
Interesting. Cheers
the fire of creativity that burns inside an artist soul keeps him going to overcome difficulties and prevail
Very True
Excellent video and so through. Thankyou for this content. I have been on big Theosophy kick lately and all the artists it influenced. Also recently read some of Kandinsky's work, that guy was on another level as well. Too bad the both of them did not meet.
Glad you enjoyed my video, they are both fascinating people. Enjoy your exploration of Theosophy.
Thanks so much for this interesting information on Lowrys life and paintings. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers
He is not Russian artist. He is a Jewish artist who was born in the current territory of Belarus, which is a big difference. It's like you call Gandhi a British activist.
His religion has nothing to do with his nationality, I mentioned him as being Jewish. He was born in the Russian Empire and throughout his lifetime his birth place was in either the Russian Empire or the Soviet Union, so technically he was 'Russian'. Belarus did not become an independent country until after he died.
@@ArtHistorySchool I don't believe that "Jewish" solely refers to religion. It encompasses cultural and ethnic identity as well. As you mentioned in the video, Jewish people typically refrain from depicting God due to religious restrictions. Additionally, identifying him as being from Belarus carries significant implications regarding his identity, life experiences, and social standing. Being Belarusian as opposed to Russian during the time of the Russian Empire would have had profound effects on his life and opportunities. If he were Russian, he may not have been able to leave the country, resulting in a completely different narrative and individual. Thus, in my view, he is not Russian. Given the current discourse on the decolonization of Russia, it's crucial to acknowledge that many individuals previously labeled as Russians do not identify as such. Anyway huge thank you for the video. I was born in the same city 100 years later and I love Chagall.
I take your points. I would agree that today, not wanting to be any part of Russia, given their present and past behaviour would be very desirable.
@@ArtHistorySchool yes, thank you for understanding it.
Swedisch painter but the music in the beginning is very norwegian (Morgenstimmung, E Grieg)
True
I am fed up of getting HINDI subtitles all the time !! I want English subtitles and transcripts not Hindi 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
RUclips defaults to the language it thinks is relevant to your area, you'll have to change the subtitles if you don't like it.
@@ArtHistorySchool no options to change the subtitles , there is only 2 option Hindi auto generated and turn off subtitles
Interesting. I saw a photo of her as a young lady dressed as a boy.
Yes, the video explains the reasoning behind that.
Cubism is not painting ! It is how not to paint !!! Pathetic woke version of painting !!!
Do you understand anything about painting or do you just base your judgments on your own prejudices?
Excellent video! Thank you.
Really pleased you enjoyed it! Cheers
Prachtig, gewoon prachtig ❤
Proost
Very entertaining. What a character.
He certainly was. Glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers

DURING EVERY PERIOD OF "MODERN ART"", (1900-TO LATE IN THE CENTURY), GEORGE BRAQUE WAS THERE WITH "BOTH GUNS BLAZING", BUT THE MEDIA WAS NOT SEDUCED, AS IT WAS WITH THE ROMANTIC P. PICCASO, THE MEDIA DARLING
>>>>>>>>> OOOOPS ! ! ! ""PICASSO,"" BLAME IT ON MY "YOUTH "
Braque was arguably the more sophisticated Cubist painter, but Picasso was the originator. He also moved on to create many other 'styles', ideas etc. whilst Braque ploughed the same field all his life.
Amazingly told!! Love every video of yours!!! Thank you for being one of the guardians of our art history!!
Many thanks, really pleased you enjoyed it. Cheers
